Why this sits inside a technology company

The usual arrangement is that a build finishes and is then sent to a law firm, which reads it cold, asks for context nobody wrote down, and returns questions weeks later about decisions that are now expensive to change.

Salamon Legal is Martina Salamon's own practice, and it works alongside the build rather than after it. When a project decides to send data to a new provider, the contractual and data-protection consequences are considered at the point the decision is made — which is the only point at which they are cheap.

Records of processing, legal bases, processor agreements, transfers outside the EEA, retention, and the assessments that certain processing requires. For anything involving machine learning: what data may be used, what has to be disclosed, what must be logged, and where human review is not optional.

Trademarks, IP, licensing and software terms

Registering a mark and, more importantly, checking first that it is registrable. Ownership of what your contractors produce — a question with an unpleasant default answer if nobody wrote it down. Licence terms for software you distribute, and the open-source obligations attached to what you build on.

E-commerce regulation and consumer law

Terms and conditions that survive contact with Czech and EU consumer protection, withdrawal rights, complaints procedures, pre-contractual information, and the rules on pricing and discount presentation that are enforced more actively than most e-shops expect.

How an engagement works

Legal services are provided by Salamon Legal under its own engagement agreement, subject to professional rules and privilege. In practice that means one conversation to scope the question and a written engagement before work starts — but it also means that when a project of ours raises a legal question, it does not need to be re-explained to a stranger.
